Payday 2: Setting up Streamlined Heisting

Because Payday 3 appears to be a monumental disappointment (shocker), we may as well go back to good ol’ Payday 2.

That being said, I doubt any of you remember what a mess Payday 2 actually is without the glory of the modding community. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of mods available for this wretched game, from joke reskins to complete overhauls.

Use this guide to quickly set up the modding utilities, baseline overhaul (Streamlined Heisting), and some QoL mods. Once you get SuperBLT and BLT set up, adding new mods is easy.

NOTE: Mod compatibility and host versus client requirements can absolutely break the game. I would advise not mixing in your own mods or modifying your mod configuration files unless everyone is in on it.

Let’s get STREAMY, BABY!

First: SuperBLT

  1. Clean out your Payday 2 modifications if they exist (delete IPHLAPI.dll and ./mods/base from your PAYDAY 2 folder)

  2. Set up SuperBLT from https://superblt.znix.xyz/

    • The instructions are on the website but basically:

      1. Drop the .ddl into your PAYDAY 2 folder (should share a folder with the .exe)

      2. Boot the game, allow it to download the mod files

        • If you get an error (I got code 35), reboot payday and try again, but without modern CPU support. I don’t know if the reboot did it or the default options. Could be a luck of the draw thing.

      3. Reopen the game, check mod options now exist in your options menu

Second: Streamlined Heisting

  1. Download Streamlined Heisting

  2. Extract it and drop it into your mods folder such that it looks like: “PAYDAY 2/Mods/Streamlined Heisting”

  3. Boot Payday 2 and check that Streamlined Heisting is now available in your mod options

    • if not, double-check your directory structure

Third: Streamlined Heisting Compliments

  1. Download Streamlined Heisting Complements from https://modworkshop.net/mod/33843

  2. Extract it and drop it into your mods folder such that it looks like: “PAYDAY 2/Mods/Streamlined Heisting Complements”

Fourth: Optional additions

I will be using these and, again, Payday is finicky so you probably should too.

Install these mods like the last two. You can verify correct install by confirming that the mod.txt for each mod is one level below mods/.
